Meet the Staff

Designers

Robert Hesse has been writing drill for twenty seven years. He has served as staff designer for many championship ensembles and continues to write innovative and cutting edge drill design. Robert's shows are written with student aptitude in mind and can be taught quickly. Your marching band will reach its true potential when Robert designs your show. Mr. Hesse is the head designer at CSD.

Barry Bernhardt has been on the production staff of Bowl Games of America for the past 17 years and annually writes several halftime performances for major university bowl games in addition to annually conducting at least two performances for national television. He currently writes competitive marching band shows for several high school bands in Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky, for the Clondalkin Youth Band in Dublin, Ireland, and has also written for the University of Notre Dame Marching Band. Mr. Bernhardt has been on the Adjudication Staff of Heritage Music Festivals since 1988.

Clayton Harris has been writing drill for 7 years, including both Drum and Bugle Corps and high schools in Texas, Arkansas, and Missouri. His marching experiences include performing with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, teaching for Delta Brigade Drum and Bugle Corps and the Bluestars Drum and Bugle Corps.

Jackie Digby has been teaching and writing drill for award winning bands in Arkansas and Texas for 14 years. He has designed shows for groups of various sizes ranging from 27 to over 230 members. His goal is to provide you with drill design at the appropriate level for your group. Drill that has clear instructions, is easy to teach, and is exciting for your students to perform.

Craig Hamilton has written drill and arranged for bands of all levels for over 20 years. His forte is writing drill and arrangements that capitalize on the strengths of the ensemble. Dr. Hamilton’s experience in teaching music ensembles help him create shows that are musical, innovative and entertaining. A show designed by Craig Hamilton will bring out the potential in your ensemble!

Jim Lloyd has been writing competition drills for award winning bands, including his own, for over 15 years. He has written for large and small programs in Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, and New Mexico. His designs are always cutting edge and focus on velocity and optimal sound production.


Arrangers

Tom Clary has over thirteen years experience writing music for marching band and drum and bugle corps. Tom, a veteran of the commercial music field, has also written and arranged music for radio, television and film. His marching band and drum corps arrangements have been commissioned and played by ensembles all over the United States. Tom's real gift lies in working to understand the strengths and limitations of your ensemble in order to provide you with extremely playable music.

Don Colquitt has been teaching and writing band music for all grade levels for the last 17 years, and has received commissions from many middle school, high school, and university bands. He also arranges marching band music for all grade levels and sizes of bands. His years of experience as an educator and composer make his marching arrangements both exciting and rewarding to both directors and students.

Rob Romeyn has been arranging marching band music for high school and university bands all over the country since 1981. Rob served as staff arranger for the Northeast Louisiana University band from 1983-1986, and was staff arranger at James Madison University. Several of his arrangements have been published by William-Allen Music. As a high school band director, he directed the Blue Ridge H.S. band in Greer, SC, and the Lakewood H.S. band in St. Petersburg, FL. Rob is the arranger for the 500 member "Second Time Arounders Marching Band" from St. Petersburg, FL. Many of his arrangements have been featured on national television, including the Peach Bowl halftime shows for 2000-2001.
